High speed chase through St. Bernard Parish ends in flames

On Behalf of | Nov 19, 2012 | Auto Accidents |

The privilege of driving is one of the rights of passage in the life of a teenager. After a driver’s education course and study of the traffic laws teens are awarded a license to drive. As adult drivers, we sometimes take for granted the basic of traffic laws and focus on the immediate business of getting to our next location quickly. This can sometimes result in car accidents that cause injury to both driver and innocent bystander.

Unfortunately there are also those that flagrantly violate our traffic laws. Recently, a 37 year old man bolted from a St. Bernard Parish courtroom when he was asked to accept a plea that would result in seven years in prison or go to trial and potentially face a longer prison time. Liking neither option, Robertson bolted from the courtroom and a high speed police chase ensued. The chase ended when Robertson’s car burst into flames and he was unable to run due to a broken leg. During the chase, a Chalmette High School track coach was rear ended but only suffered minor injuries.

In this incident, there were no fatal or serious injuries. However, this is not always the case with car accidents such as this one. Car accident victims can suffer long term physical and emotional injuries that require extensive financial intervention. Without the proper medical care, these victims are never able to regain a semblance of normalcy. Their lives and the lives of those who love them are forever altered.

A car accident victim may be entitled to seek compensation for their injuries. This compensation may include reimbursement for medical expenses in the past and in the future, past, present and future lost wages, and damages for pain and suffering.
