Belle Chasse man killed in freak car accident

On Behalf of | Jan 15, 2013 | Auto Accidents |

The loss of human life is always cause for mourning and reflection. The loss of a beloved family member results in even more sorrow and pain. Such is the case in the death of a Belle Chase man who was killed in a fatal accident on his way to his parent’s home.

The victim, a 45-year-old residential ironworker, lost control of his car when he was sideswiped by another car that was driving in the opposite direction. The victim’s car slammed into a nearby tree where he was declared dead on the scene. He is survived by two sons, his parents and a host of family and friends who are left seeking answers to the unexpected death of a beloved family man.

The emotional and financial strain of the loss of a loved one can be overwhelming for the family of the deceased. Family members may seek to file a wrongful death claim to compensate for financial losses. In the state of Louisiana, children of the deceased can file for compensation.

In this case, the deceased man’s two sons may elect to file a wrongful death claim against the driver that side-swiped their father’s car. Compensation would be determined based on the calculated future earnings of the deceased that would have contributed to the household expenses.

Though money will never bring back a family member, it can help to resolve any financial obligations that the deceased may have left behind in their estate. An experienced attorney can help family members get the compensation for the negligent act that caused the wrongful death of their loved one.
