Suspects apprehended in Algiers carjacking

On Behalf of | Jan 2, 2013 | Wrongful Death |

Whether on the road or at a local store, drivers must be diligent in recognizing their surroundings and anticipating potential dangers that may be around them. The apprehension of suspects in a recent carjacking in Algiers, highlights the need for this skill. Now that suspects are in custody, the surviving family may begin the healing process after the wrongful death of their loved one.

The lifeless body of a man was found in a strip-mall parking after being ravaged by multiple bullet wounds. This week, two suspects in the carjacking have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and carjacking and are in custody in connection with the crime. Their criminal trials are sure to follow in the coming weeks. Beyond the criminal trial, the family of the victim of this brutal crime may want to take additional action in civil court to ensure justice for their loved one.

Though financial compensation can never bring back a loved one, the financial payment can be utilized to pay for unexpected expenses that may arise after a brutal crime like the one that was perpetrated on this unfortunate and innocent man. The earlier an attorney can be brought into the process, the better the results may be for the family. In Louisiana, only children and a surviving spouse can file for wrongful death. However, if the deceased has no children or spouse, parents can pursue compensation.

If someone has lost a loved one due to a heinous crime such as this one, they should be aware of all possible legal options that may be available to compensate them for such a tragic loss. Damages such as loss of future earnings, funeral expenses, and loss of companionship may be recovered in such an action.
