Defective bikes recalled

Riding a bike is one of the great pleasures of life. Many adults have fond memories of learning to ride a bike as a child and continue to ride for pleasure, exercise and transportation. When a rider gets on the bike, they believe that a properly maintained bike will be safe and will be able to support them. However, this is not always the case.

Giant Bicycle company has recalled the XtC bicycle and seatpost. After shipment to stores, it was discovered that over time, this model of bicycle develops a crack in the seatpost, which creates a risk of falling for the rider. The recall is specific to the 2013 model year Giant Xtc Advanced SL 29er 0 and 29er 1 series bicycles. Currently, the company has received five reports of the seatposts breaking, but no injuries have resulted at this time.

Consumers are being urged to stop using the bicycles. A Giant Bicycle dealer should be contacted as soon as possible for a free replacement part. As with all recalls, it is important to remember that this and any product that has been voluntarily recalled by a company or has had a mandatory recall should not be sold in its defective state.

Anyone that has been injured by a product has a right to bring a claim. Product liability cases are technical in nature and require an attorney that is able to successfully bring the right team of expert witnesses to explain the nature of the defect. Injured consumers deserve compensation for their losses.
