Chevrolet recalls on some 2013 and 2014 Malibus

The purchase of a vehicle is an important decision. Beyond the cost, safety is a factor that is used to narrow the field. A recent recall has placed the safety of some Chevrolet owners into question.

Almost 15,000 Chevrolet Malibu cars made in 2013 are being recalled. There is a possibility that the wiring harness could possibly cause a fire. The cause of the fire has been traced to the power seats wearing against the seat frame.

In some cases this rubbing could cause a spark that can develop into a fire. In addition to the potential fire hazard, some 2014 Malibu models are also being recalled for other flaws. The almost 45,000 vehicles are being checked for a flaw that may cause the defrost feature to malfunction. GM has reportedly said that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in their 2014 cars may not work properly.

Thus far GM has reported that two fires have occurred in empty vehicles. At this time the company is unaware of any injuries that has resulted from these malfunctions. Though no accidents have yet to occur, it does not mean that these cars are safe for consumers. Malfunctioning vehicles have harmed drivers and passengers alike. The injuries can be serious and negatively affect their lives.

Product recalls such as this one are important because it exposes potential product liability due to negligent manufacturing. Individuals who have been harmed by defective products have a right to compensation for their injuries. Seeking assistance and guidance could help injured consumers gain financial recovery so they can focus on their physical recovery.
