Commercial vehicle accident sends 34 to hospital

Drivers of commercial vehicles have a special responsibility not only to other drivers on the road, but also to their passengers. Large commercial vehicles, like Greyhound buses, are a common source of transportation for many Americans. Driver fatigue and other distractions, however, can lead to deadly consequences for operators of these vehicles.

34 people were hurt when a Greyhound bus left the highway in another state, where it proceeded to flip on its side. The injuries in the commercial vehicle accident ranged from minor to severe. A combination of ambulances and medical helicopters were utilized to transport accident victims to neighboring hospitals. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

As the victims from this accident recover from their injuries, questions about why the accident occurred will be asked. The state of mind of the driver, any driving logs and road conditions leading up to the time of the accident must be evaluated to gain an accurate picture of what occurred. Louisiana law allows victims to make a claim up to one year after the incident occurred. In this state, valuable information may be lost if an investigation is not completed shortly after the accident.

Victims that are concerned about their lost wages and medical bills may want to seek more information about their legal options. An accident reconstruction expert can help to examine the scene and give testimony in any civil lawsuit that is filed as a result of an accident. If the accident was caused by the negligence of a bus or truck operator, a thorough investigation may reveal evidence about the liability of the company as well.
