Representative Cases
- In July, 2025, Mr. DiLeo obtained a settlement in the amount of $950,000 for a woman who sustained neck, back and shoulder injuries resulting in cervical and lumbar injections, a shoulder surgery, and a lumbar surgery, a transforaminal lumbar fusion, facetectomy and foraminotomy. Palermo v. AmGuard Ins. Co., et al., CDC No. 23-11783.
- On November 16, 2023, Mr. DiLeo obtained a mediation settlement in the amount of 850,000.00 for his client, Roderick Crumedy, a 35 year old debris monitor who was injured when a debris load operator Darrel Nelson, lowered a stabilization arm at his vehicle onto the plaintiff’s foot, causing injures to his foot, knee and back. In Crumedy v. Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, et al, No. 2:22-CV-04570, of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, Mr. Crumedy claimed damages for his injuries which resulted in injections and surgical procedures.
- On November 22, 2021, Mr. DiLeo obtained a mediation settlement in the amount of $2,500,000 for his client, Michelle Belleau., a 36-year-old single mother and casino server who was injured when Gustavo Montes, operating a vehicle for Command Construction, caused a 4 car rear end collision on August 18, 2017, causing serious injuries to her head, clavicle, neck and back. In Belleau, et al v. The Gray Ins. Co. et al, No. 777-194 of the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson, Ms. Belleau claimed damages for her injuries which resulted in several surgical procedures.
- On February 5, 2021, Mr. DiLeo obtained a mediation settlement in the amount of $1,149,000 for his client, Robert Hills, a 61-year-old New Orleans, LA forklift operator, who was injured when Ricky Decanter, operating a 16 wheeler, owned by UFI Transportation, Inc., unexpectedly pulled away from a loading dock while plaintiff was still completing loading operations, causing the forklift to fall to the ground, and causing Mr. Hills serious injuries to his neck and back. In Hills v. Decanter, et al., docket no. 2015-04026 of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Mr. Hills claimed damages for the his neck and low back injuries, which resulted in a recommendation for lumbar surgery.
- On August 30, 2019, Mr. DiLeo won a jury verdict in the amount of $3,038,078.00 ($3.6M with judicial interest) for his client, Obadiah Stephenson, a 44-year-old Marrero house renovator, who was injured in a low-speed collision by an 18 wheeler owned and operated by Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. In Stephenson v. Hotard, et al., docket no. 2016-2900 of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Mr. Stephenson sustained spinal injuries requiring surgery, with instrumentation and hardware.
- On April 23, 2019, Mr. DiLeo obtained a settlement in the amount of $2.1 Million on behalf of a 38-year-old Buras, La heavy equipment operator who was injured in an intersectional collision with a company vehicle. In Mayberry v. Baskin, et al., docket no. 80-285 of the 29th Judicial District Court for the Parish of St. Charles, Mr. Mayberry sustained major spinal injuries requiring surgery, with instrumentation and hardware, followed by another surgery to remove his hardware.
- On April 10, 2018, Mr. DiLeo obtained a jury verdict in the amount of more than $11 Million on behalf of a New Orleans woman injured in a head-on collision between two garbage trucks at a landfill. In Duplessis v. Turner, et al., docket no. 2015-4256 of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Ms. Duplessis suffered major spinal injuries requiring surgery and severe psychological injuries when the operator of another garbage truck lost control of his fully loaded truck, crossed into her lane of travel and struck her head-on. This verdict earned Mr. DiLeo recognition with the elite group, “8 Figure Litigators."
- On August 26, 2016, Mr. DiLeo obtained a unanimous jury verdict in the amount of $3.2 Million Dollars on behalf of a Metairie man injured in a motor vehicle collision, where $2M was awarded for physical and mental pain and suffering, in the matter entitled, Scott W. Tillman v. Joseph Lawrence, Schneider National Carriers, Inc., et al.,” docket no. 699-698 of the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson.
- Mr. DiLeo obtained a settlement with Domino’s Pizza for $3.9 Million settlement in the matter of “Erica Jones v. Kristi Sons, RPM Pizza, Inc and Tower Insurance Company,” bearing #2012-6372 of the docket of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. Injuries to the plaintiff included a severe wrist fracture.
- In 2014, Mr. DiLeo was lead counsel in several consolidated cases where he obtained a settlement for an undisclosed sum in the matter entitled, “Urquhart v. Metropolitan Hospice,” bearing no. 2006-3826 of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. This suit involved the deaths of several elderly patients of Metropolitan Hospice in New Orleans East, where the nursing staff, led by administrator Mona Bagot, R.N, abandoned all of her patients in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
- Gregory P. DiLeo was lead counsel on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the class action entitled, “Orrill v. La. Citizens Fair Plan,” which was settled in 2013 for $20 Million against La. Citizens Property Ins. Corp.
- In 2010, Mr. DiLeo was lead counsel in another Katrina related case, which settled during trial in the amount of $1.5M in the matter entitled, “Edwards v. UHS, Inc.,” bearing no. 2006-9310 of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. This suit involved the death of the plaintiff’s mother who perished at Methodist Hospital in New Orleans East, due to the failure of the hospital’s administrators to evacuate its patients before Hurricane Katrina.

Mr. DiLeo, since his admission to practice in 1980, has engaged in civil litigation, has tried several jury trials, bench trials in personal injury cases, and has obtained the reversal and/or affirmation of cases involving the expansion of personal injury damages before the state appellate courts (Broome v. Gauthier, ((La. App., 4th Cir. 11/10/83) 443 So.2d 1127, (successfully extending mental anguish damages to uninjured victims, owners of property damages, who are present to see and experience the destruction of their property); and State Supreme Court (Jones v. Thomas, ((La. 1983)) 426 So.2d 609, holding that workmen’s compensation tort immunity does not extend to and excludes all intentional acts). Mr. DiLeo’s involvement in class action and mass joinder cases has provided him with expertise in case management, fact and expert discovery, steering committee administration, the proof of claim process, class action/mass joinder trials, and the role, mechanism and operation of Plaintiff Steering Committees.
