Nursing Home Neglect & Abuse Decades of Experience. Millions Recovered. No Fee Unless We Win.

New Orleans Nursing Home Abuse Attorneys

Holding Nursing Homes Accountable for the Care They Promised

Families choose nursing homes because they trust the staff to treat their loved ones with dignity, attention, and basic human care. When that trust is broken through neglect, understaffing, or outright abuse, the consequences can be devastating and sometimes fatal.

At Frischhertz & Impastato, we represent New Orleans families whose loved ones were harmed in facilities that put profits ahead of proper care, and we work to hold those facilities responsible. Our attorneys are tireless advocates for justice, seeking full accountability on behalf of elderly individuals and their families. We have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for the injured and bring more than 85 years of combined experience to every case.

If you or your loved one suffered abuse or neglect in a Louisiana nursing home, call (504) 276-6962 to speak with a New Orleans nursing home abuse attorney at absolutely no cost.

Warning Signs of Nursing Home Neglect or Abuse

Nursing home neglect and abuse can be difficult to spot, especially when a resident is unable to communicate clearly or fears retaliation for speaking up. Families are often the first to notice that something is wrong.

Signs worth taking seriously include:

  • Unexplained bruises, cuts, or fractures
  • Bedsores or pressure ulcers, particularly in advanced stages
  • Sudden weight loss, dehydration, or signs of malnutrition
  • Poor hygiene, soiled clothing, or unclean living conditions
  • Withdrawal, fearfulness, or a noticeable change in mood around certain staff members
  • Missing personal belongings or unauthorized withdrawals from a resident's accounts
  • Overmedication or medication errors
  • Repeated falls or injuries the facility cannot adequately explain

If any of these signs are present, it may be time to look more closely at the level of care your loved one is receiving. You should report warning signs to the nursing home’s administrators and/or local authorities. If you suspect anyone is in imminent danger, call 911.

The Many Forms Neglect & Abuse Can Take

Nursing home cases rarely fit into a single category. Facilities can fail residents in several overlapping ways, including:

  • Physical abuse, such as hitting, restraining, or rough handling
  • Emotional or psychological abuse, including intimidation, isolation, or humiliation
  • Sexual abuse, which is drastically underreported among elderly residents
  • Financial exploitation, where staff or facility employees misuse a resident's funds or property
  • Neglect, including failure to provide adequate food, water, hygiene, supervision, or medical attention

Some of the most serious injuries we see stem not from a single incident but from ongoing neglect: a resident left in one position for too long, a fall that could have been prevented with proper supervision, or a bedsore infection that went untreated because staff were spread too thin.
