A bizarre double car accident leaves one Louisiana driver dead at 27. Impaired driving is suspected to be a factor in the I-55 accident that occurred on April 5, 2015. Though one driver has been arrested, the truck accident is still under investigation by local police.
The driver of a Honda sedan and a Volkswagen were involved in a motor vehicle accident. Though there was damage to their vehicles, both drivers appeared unharmed. The two pulled over to the left lane of I-55 around 4:00 in the morning. Their cars were partially in the left lane when the two drivers exited their vehicles to discuss the accident. While on the side of the highway, the driver of a Toyota truck collided with one of the motorists. The injured motorist passed away from the injuries a day after the accident.
It is believed that the driver of the truck was under the influence of drugs when the accident occurred. The results of toxicology reports are still pending. In the meantime, the driver has been charged with vehicular homicide, careless driving and driving under a suspended license. He has been booked at the Tangipah Parish jail.
This accident serves as a reminder that drivers must not only pay attention to other drivers on the road, but also to those who may be on the side of the highway.
