Fatal crash takes the life of teenage girl

Car accidents are unfortunately commonplace on the highways of New Orleans. No matter how often auto accidents occur, as a society we never get used to hearing that there has been a loss of life. This past week a tragedy occurred when a teenage girl lost her life due to the alleged reckless driving of a man.

The 28-year-old man was arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide and reckless driving. The charges stemmed from a car crash that occurred on I-10 at Lafitte Street. The man was driving a Ford Crown Victoria when he crashed into a GMC SUV driven by an 18-year-old woman. The SUV hit the guardrail and flipped over several times. Fortunately the driver and a 15-year-old passenger in the SUV escaped with non-life-threatening injuries. However a 17-year-old passenger in the SUV was not so lucky. She was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

The deceased girl's family should be able to bring a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver and recover damages for the loss of their loved one. and although the injuries of the driver and passenger were not life-threatening, those injuries could still alter their quality of life. Whiplash, dislocations and other injuries can cause long-term physical and financial issues in the life of the injured.

The insurance company of the negligent driver can make it difficult to receive compensation for medical expenses, lost income and pain and suffering. After receiving prompt medical care, it is important for these accident victims hire competent counsel. Car accident victims need legal representation to get the right results.
