The holiday season is here again. As Louisiana residents prepare to give and receive gifts, it is a good time to pay attention to recall alerts that are being issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It is important to give gifts that are not only fun but also safe for all who may use the product.
Felt Cyclocross bicycles are being recalled due to a defect in the frame. It has been found that the frame could break and cause the rider to lose control and fall. Felt Bicycles is an Irvine, California, company that distributed their product nationwide in specialty stores from June 2014 to September 2014. Anyone that owns one of these defective bikes should contact the company immediately for a replacement. The bicycles cost anywhere from $1,200 to $1,500. Approximately 150 units are subject to the recall.
It is important that dangerous products be recalled as soon as possible. Recalls can keep consumers safe from injuries. The CPSC plays a central role in product recalls. The CPSC can issue a recall, or a company can issue a recall voluntarily. No matter what the case, it is important to keep defective products out of the marketplace. Manufacturers of defective products must provide consumers with a fix, replacement or refund.
Any consumer, even an individual who did not purchase the item, may pursue a product safety claim for a defective product if they have been injured. Companies and their distributors may be held liable for placing a defective product into the stream of commerce. Injured consumers have rights. A product liability attorney can help consumers fight for their rights.
