Products liability: Cheerios recalled in Louisiana

Cereal is a staple on the Louisiana breakfast table. Even citizens with gluten allergies can enjoy this popular food. Cereal manufacturers must take the appropriate steps to ensure that each box produced is free from allergens and safe for consumers. Food giant, General Mills, has issued a voluntary recall of one of their most popular cereals.

Consumers who enjoy the gluten-free original and Honey Nut Cheerios need to take note. The wrong flour was utilized during the production. Individuals with gluten allergies should check their boxes to determine if the box owned is affected.

All affected boxes were produced in Lodi, California. The incorrect flour was mixed with the gluten-free flour system in July 2015. This mistake affected four days of production of original Cheerios and 13 days of Honey Nut Cheerios.

Consumers in Louisiana should check their cereal boxes for plant code LD. The boxes of original Cheerios included in the recall have the better if used by the following date range: July 14 to July 17, 2016.

The Honey Nut Cheerios recall includes the following used by the following date range: July 12 to July 25, 2016. The affected boxes have been removed from supermarket shelves and warehouses. Consumers who are in possession of the recalled products should return them to the store of purchase or contact General Mills directly.
